The question arose within the studio, "how does one make real estate law not completely uninteresting?" The collective talents of Studio Litchfield were not only able to answer that question, but do so without killing ourselves in boredom.
"Icarus" is one of the creative gems from the Litchytype Letter Factory. Created for a contest on Design*Sponge, it took the silver medal over disagreements from the community that Icarus was only indirectly related to the Labyrinth myth. That's what we're going with, anyway. The entire typeface can be typed out into one continuous, solvable maze.
"Warehouse No.5" is a pet project that the folks at Allan S. Goodman Inc. have cooked up. They can talk about wine and good food all they want, but without the Litchfield polish, this so-called "blog" would have been as dreadful as the word "blog."
Another job for Allan S. Goodman Inc. A delightful mascot for their sponsored Pub Crawl, an event held across the state of Connecticut.
Jonathan Harris was a State Senator running for Connecticut Secretary of the State back in 2010. This winning design campaign was sure to bury his opponents in the dust ...until he was lost.
Another snippet of the Jonathan Harris campaign. Notice how the Nutmeg State is transformed into a classy monogram for the candidate. Will people ever be able to look at Connecticut the same way again? I doubt it.
Our resident illustrator, Ledyard, put these together - the RGB pin-up girls. Art is war, if you do it right, and there's no reason why we shouldn't have the same amenities that our veterans had, albeit adjusted for our particular field. We anticipate his follow-up, the CMYK girls.
Even though everyone with any sort of taste knows that "video games" are not art, that doesn't mean the branding for it can't be. Unpossible Games is an independent game developer in New York's capitol region, and we patiently await the day they paint a picture or something.
"Sampler" from the Litchytype Letter Factory is the intersection between graphic design and classic school-girl needlework. A dream come true for both sides of the Venn Diagram, it's chock-full of letters, ornaments, and banners. It's available on our Designmoo page.
Ledyard seems to spend a great deal of his day painting on any surface he can find. When he runs out of canvas, he paints over my New York Times, which requires me to finish the crossword as fast as I can.
When the CEO of "Eros Inc." decided to make his company public, they called on us for a rebrand. We thought it would be a sound partnership until we were paid in candy hearts...
Instant Classic is a comic on the internet. To make up for how brutally non-comical it is, resident alphabetarian, Mystic, created this beautiful custom typography to overcompensate.
Ledyard, created this Chicken Little as part of a three-part series of illustrations for a children's theatre in Northampton, MA. Ouch.
Illustration done for a presentation in Cupertino, CA. The bipolar nature of man vs. technology is a theme, we at Studio Litchfield, are fully familiar with.
Derby & Sprague are two street artists in our employ. This pair of scamps use these elegant images to make their whereabouts known to the walls of the world. Ampersand provided by Haäfe&Haph
For the tenth anniversary of the independent film house, Lobsterback Entertainment, we crowned them with a brand new ambigram logo. Go ahead, turn your monitor upside down. I dare you.
Our dear Funding Fathers. Hand-crafted with graphite and airbrushed to completion, we don't need your precious computers to be the best at what we do.
Resident alphabetarian, Mystic, started on this typeface earlier this year. This untitled type will join several others in-progress for the premiere of our foundry, the Litchytype Letter Factory.
Riff's Joint is a local restaurant in Easthampton, MA that a number of our crew frequently call a favorite. So much so that they banded together to redesign their website in exchange for free food. Sometimes a "Havana Cheese Burger" heals all wounds.
The greatest trick pepper ever pulled was convincing the world it didn't exist. Or something like that.
In 2007, Studio Litchfield was brought on to freshen up Stanley Works' Corporate Graphics Standards Manual. One part classy, one part utilitarian - one of our favorite recipes.
More from Stanley Works' Corporate Graphics Standards Manual. Now that this company has merged with Black&Decker, the fate of this project is unknown to me. Their loss.
Studio Litchfield designed the custom icons indicating each flavor. Blueberry. Pineapple. Cranberry. Apricot. We suggested 'Kiwano African Horned Melon' but apparently it doesn't make for a good fruited horseradish. Who knew?
BKFK Inc. is a company that specializes in inventions made by kids. For years, we worked as a hired gun for them serving brilliant illustrations for their partners ranging from Scholastic to Xerox.
More from BKFK - there's really know way of knowing what practical use these random inventions have. That's science for you.
Custom type handing and embossed swirls. Nothing gets us in the holiday spirit more than mock offset printing.
Another addition to the Litchytype Letter Factory, "Brickwork" is also available on our Designmoo page.
